"Each word, every syllable, each phrase poured from their mouths as blue flame. The living flame organized into sigils that L’iah had never seen before. 

At the end of every verse, the sigil would sear into her skin. The pain rattled her teeth, but she continued. Line after line they sung. Sigil after sigil embedded into her flesh. 

Blue flames raged through her body. L’iah looked down at her hands to see them covered in dancing fire. Her limbs and her feet were alight too. She imagined that her whole body must be engulfed."
